Electrical Money Saving Tips

If you’ve ever looked at your electric bill and asked yourself how on earth it could cost so much, you are in the right place. There are plenty of ways to save money on your electrical bill, and our electrical solutions offer you a number of tips that can help you do just that. So, without further ado, allow us to introduce you to our money saving tips!

Tip #1: Turn Off the Lights

You’ve heard this one a lot, but we’re going to say it again: turn off the lights! If you aren’t in a room, there is no reason for the lights to be on. Are you worried that the dust bunnies are afraid of the dark? Over and beyond turning off the lights when you leave a room, you also need to keep in mind that you don’t need a bunch of lights on in the same room. During the day, you really don’t need the lights on at all unless a room has no windows. Lift up the shades and let the sun do its job!

Tip #2: Switch to Energy Saving Light bulbs

The energy saving light bulbs can help reduce your electrical bill drastically over the course of a year, or even just a month. Plus, these energy saving bulbs tend to last longer, saving you even more money in the long run. Don’t be fooled either, these light bulbs are not difficult to use. You can find them in nearly any major store these days, and you install them the exact same way as any light bulb. So no more excuses! Make the change already!

Tip #3: Use the Cold Settings

If you have a washing machine or a dishwasher, chances are high that they have cold water settings. Use them! It takes electricity to heat the water for the hot settings, and it’s not really necessary to use them anyways. You can also make sure that you use the proper load setting for your washing machine. No sense in washing a small load on a large setting!

Tip #4: Use a Clothesline

When the weather allows, use a clothesline to dry your clothes instead of a dryer. This can cut your electrical bill in a rather drastic way. Besides, the smell of clothes fresh from the line is amazing!

Tip #5: Open the Windows

Instead of using the air conditioner, try to first open up the windows and get a breeze going. If it’s really hot, go ahead and use the air conditioner, but more often than not, a cool breeze will do you just fine. If you have a screen door, you can even open up your doors to get a little bit extra coolness blowing through your home.

Tip #6: Wash Your Dishes by Hand

It takes a lot less energy to wash your dishes by hand then it does if you run the dishwasher. You also end up using less water, which saves even more electricity in the long run! Save your dishwasher for holidays or those days when you are on the run and don’t have time to wash your dishes by hand. Otherwise, our electrical solutions says you need to do things the old fashioned way!
