How many options you have for faxing?

Much has been said about technology revolutionizing the ways we work, and innovations changing our lifestyles. Be it nutrition, travel, communication, or social affairs – there is no field untouched by the technology advancement.

Today in Australia, you can send a document in its original format, to a far off place within few seconds, through a single click. Transmission of data electronically over a telephone line, while retaining its originality is called facsimile, popularly known as fax. In the earlier days, it was a tedious process, with the requirement of a bulky fax machine, and availability of printer and scanner, along with a dedicated telephone line for the same. This traditional methodology has been replaced by online fax facilities in present age.

So, what all options you have to send a fax online?

  • VoIP fax – where a fax machine is plugged into the VoIP adapter to send or receive one fax at a time.
  • Email fax – where the documents to be faxed are sent as attachments with email to the recipient. Similarly, fax can also be received as attachments with email. It is also called web fax.

In both of the above scenarios, a phone line is required for the transmission of data. Email fax service providers allot a dedicated fax number to its subscribers, using which the account holder can send a fax or receive a fax. The transmission still happens over phone line, just that the phone line is managed by the service provider and not the account holder.

The many benefits of using online fax include flexibility to use the service from any location with internet facility, multiple device portability, savings of cost and time, and secure transmission without endangering the integrity of the document to be faxed.
